LAY CLERKS - Freddie Campbell

Frederick Campbell began to play Violin aged 10 and received early musical training as a Chorister at Belfast Cathedral before spending six years as a Queen’s Musician in the Life Guards’ Band. Music College followed and Freddie spent six years at Trinity College of Music, London, studying Singing with Morag Noble and Violin & Viola with Vera Kantrovitch and Csaba Erdelyi.
Whilst at Trinity, Freddie won all Prizes & Competitions as a String Player, sang in the College Vocal Ensemble under Geoffrey Mitchell and was appointed Church Soloist in Mayfair, Central London.
In 2000 he retrained as a Counter-Tenor with Dr. Stuart Ward and Timothy Travers-Brown, becoming an Alto Choral Scholar in the Chapel of Worcester College Oxford in ’02 under Judy Martin.
Freddie was appointed Lay-Clerk here at Chester Cathedral in ’05. He has given a number of Public & Private Recitals.
